October is upon us once again, and so are another series of bone-chilling horror movie reviews. Over the course of the month I’ll be posting one review every other day, with movies spanning multiple decades, countries, and subgenres. Just as before, the only criterion for a movie’s inclusion is that I can’t have seen it. Later today I’ll post the first of these reviews, for the 2013 slasher sequel Curse of Chucky. So keep an an eye or two on this blog; these movies are so good, it’s scary.

mother! is one of those movies that’s hard to review, partly because its plot doesn’t lend itself to easy summarization, and partly because one has tread lightly to avoid giving too much away. But Darren Aronofsky’s latest doesn’t quite fall into the revered “go in blind” category, so let’s get to it. Continue reading

As someone who’s read Stephen King’s novel twice, once very recently, it’s impossible for me to separate the adaptation from the source material, so I won’t try.
