Avengers: Infinity War

It seems that every Marvel movie somehow manages to generate even more hype than the last, and Avengers: Infinity War is no exception.  It’s the movie that the last dozen-or-so films of its universe have been leading up to, focusing on the titular band of superheroes doing battle with Thanos (Josh Brolin), the much-ballyhooed big-bad of the Marvel universe.  Infinity War brings with it the creative challenges posed by its two predecessors: juggling a massive cast of characters, maintaining a brisk pace for a hefty running time, and keeping the stakes high in a franchise that has rather cheapened the threat of global destruction. Movie Review: The Fate of the Furious

Watching The Fate of the Furious, I found myself wondering (not for the first time), how did we get here? How did a straightforward street racing movie morph into an eight-film behemoth whose action sequences’ sheer scale put other blockbusters to shame? But for the first time, I found myself a little bored of asking that question, since the series has now been doing it for six years or so. A Definitive Guide to the Fast and Furious Movies, Part 1

As you may have guessed from the title of my blog, I’m a fan of the Fast and Furious movies.  So when my cousin Zack proposed a marathon, I accepted right away, especially since his only prior exposure to the series was having seen “about half” of Tokyo Drift.  I couldn’t wait to introduce him to the series, which would also allow me a chance to rethink my initial ranking.

The marathon took place over three nights, clocking in at nine hours and fifteen minutes.  Here are my rankings and reviews of the movies, along with Zack’s immediate reactions. Continue reading
